Digging up the Past

I Never thought they'd grow up so soon.

She was the girl on my hip

He was the boy who fell in love with the beach.

She learned to dance like she means it.

He found pure bliss in the simplest things.

I went digital in 2003.  It was scary at first, but I have never looked back.

Remember film?  And the hundreds of pictures "just in case"?

Here are couple favorites I just dug up from my first digital year.

It is TRULY AMAZING what can happen in 5 years.

Slow Down.

Superhero Friday

My 21 month old says these words all the time...."{person} where are you!?!?"
I now have them run through my mind for various reasons.
"Sanity, where are you?"
"Aubrey where are you?"

Today I ask, "superpowers where are you!??"
Sometimes I think I really do need them.
I promise to use them for good, not evil.

So I pulled on those tall red Wonder Woman boots again yesterday for the newest Superhero Challenge: a handful of treasures.  Different ideas in my head.  But what I ended up with was sort of by accident.   Lily was playing quietly with some real treasures...her big sisters rings.  No wonder she was so quiet, oooing and ahhing in her sweet breathy voice.
This was the place I got my Love Thursday shot from too.  I have learned over and over the best things are not always planned.
And the only superpowers I needed were hearing that soft little voice quietly admiring something she really thought of as treasures....
I caught my treasures too...those sweet little hands.

Have a Happy Friday!

Love Thursday

I love the Shutter Sisters for inspiring my play!

Other things I love today {besides the obvious}
The smell of laundry
A fresh clean boy
my new spoon handle ring (so cool)
sweet baby girl whispers... "I sad"  (her brother left on the bus)

Hope you find a few little things you love today

Great Greeting Out Takes

And she's Going...Going...GONE!!!

Ok, so if you're on my greeting card list watch out for a super spoiler here!!! Although this is only the out takes.  The final product (which was the first shot...no lie!) isn't posted here.
I used my Cricket to cut out these letters on thin cardboard.  Double the bang here, cause I think they might look cute hanging on my front door this year.

This Great Greeting thing got me way early this year!  Hmmm, Christmas cards done before Christmas?

Oddly enough, the day of sun I had been waiting for to take my Great Greeting was yesterday, and even though you can't see it; it did finally start snowing!  I told them to open their mouths and catch the snow.  MEAN MOMMY.  I promise we were out there for less than 5 minutes, because as you can see.....
I took only 5 pictures, because that was all I could.
Even the best laid plans.....they can go terribly wrong! And I had to jump off my ladder and go in.
Fine. Fine. Torture for you. Can't mom have just a little fun?

My Everyday Layout

Here is the result of the "MY EVERYDAY" photos.
Remember those boring photos I posted the last week of October??
I have to say it is one of my very favorites.  Maybe because it is so functional in it's design.
I played with 3 new things for this, besides the everyday photo game itself.
*I printed out the photos myself and did the layout right away
{instead of my usual wait for snapfish photos to arrive, and wait until I am chronologically there in my album}
This was very freeing.  I liked it!
*I used the page pattern that I posted a couple posts ago
* I numbered my photos to the journaling

What's going on here:
They were calling for snow here this morning, but it decided not to show.
Lily is still running around in her Pj's as I type this....which has been a trend now that it has gotten colder.  She stays in them until we actually are going out for the day.
We have been using our fireplace again....IT is WONDERFUL!!
STILL waiting for a nice day to shoot my "Great Greeting"   Come back sun!!!

Page Patterns

END RESULT: 4 pages and 2 cards from the page patterns

pieces in the process:pick, measure, cut  ( I switched the green to blue at the last minute)

I am just home from my second night of teacher conferences, and I must say 2 things....one, I can not believe I am old enough to go to teacher conferences, and two, I am one very proud mama.

So I was flipping through the November Creating Keepsakes and came across some page patterns.  Something about one of the layouts yelled to me..."I am your Everyday LO!!!"  I have ignored these in the past, because I don't usually like being restricted by being told what to do.  But you know what, I just did it. And in less than 1.5 hours, I had 4 pages and 2 cards.  Talk about bang for your time.  In a tired state - it was actually nice being told what to do, and besides, you still get to pick out your own materials and embellishment details.
Next time I am tired but want to get some scrapping done, I may just look at some old issues to see if I missed any other patterns that I like!  Check out the link.

COLD FEET

They were calling to me.  The happy little orange pumpkins that sit on my front porch. The sun was out.  I had only a couple of minutes and snuck outside.  Oh my gosh it was freezing out there this morning on my bare feet.  Crazy me.  Who cares...I'll call the photos COLD FEET.  Wonder what I am getting cold feet about these days. Shake it off.
Back inside I played around with the edit effects in iphoto.  Back to my reoccurring question...B&W or Color?
And that's my 10 minutes of play for today.

My Creative Week

I have had a couple wild hairs this week, but no time to follow through.
After browsing the Shutter Sisters Blog Thursday night, I want to try out a gg button
of my own.  I will have to orchestrate a couple things to get it done....keep your fingers crossed.
So 14 pages and a couple of cards later was the result from my weekend away.  Lots of chatter too.  (I miss you girls already!!) Here are a few of my favorites from last weekend:

{got to play with my new Technique Tuesday stamps by Ali Edwards inside my card and on the i love you page - I thought it was fun to try something different inside the card}

Try for your 10 minutes of play a day this week.  I say this as much for me as for you.  Fun Play that may be silly to someone else.  They can close their eyes.

Happy Friday!

This has been a week!  Regardless of who you voted for...You've got to be proud of America for making History this week.  We've come a long way!  And that is Amazing and Hopeful.  It is Good. {My 2 cents there, with the non stop flow of discussion I have heard over this past week.}

So, I was digging around looking for something to give me a JOLT creatively last night.  I came across  Shutter Sisters "SUPERHERO" Photo Challenge.  OK, who doesn't want to be a super hero once in a while?  I decided to pull on my tall red boots (circa Wonder Woman) and dig right in this morning.

This weeks challenge was: the leaf perspective
Fall leaves are one of my favorite things.
My challenge? We don't actually have any leaves in our yard.
Camera to car, as I load up the girls on the way to school.
Without being some strange trespasser, my options seemed slight because a lot of the leaves are starting to loose their gorgeous pigment.  But I am a superhero....Wonder Woman!  No leaves... No problem!
There were a bunch of leaves by the entrance to my neighborhood. But all pale yellow...No, sad leaves just wouldn't do!   I trucked my self across the street and stole an armful of red leaves from some unsuspecting persons back yard.  I am helping them right? (crazy lady....good thing the red boots are only imaginary) Ok stage is set....Baby from car...warm enough weather for her bare feet.   In you go.
I realized this was her first time playing in the leaves.  The  morning light was kissing us.   It was magic.

I got some great shots.  I decided theses two were the most interesting result that fit the challenge. Seeing a bit of my little helper in them.  Back to Mom...but I'll hold on to those boots for later.
Have a happy Friday!

And the Winner IS!

You know who the winner is silly!  I posted it on Halloween.  But she did make a cute butterfly Fairy too.  Snapped these thursday the day before Halloween.  Mean Mama....it was a little cold out.  I had been waiting all week for any sign of sun.  I promise I was quick!  The bug was just too fitting; and much warmer!

My Creative Week

Isn't it funny how in one night I went from completely clean {easter}
to one of my busiest pages yet??? {it's all about THE HUNT- is actually the 1st of the 2 pager} Yet I actually am quite happy with both.  Thank goodness for creative freedom...played with stamping right over my LO.

Crazy Busy here the past couple days with the excitement building up to Halloween...
Of course I got in a little creative time in this week.
Super Excited to spend the rest of today and tomorrow with some girlfriends for quality scrap time.  Leaving the hubby with the clan and running away!  Maybe I will have more fun ones to post next week once I am home from my weekend break...
Hope you had a creative moment or two this week too.
